El Paso Better Business Bureau
The El Paso BBB lists RMR as having an UNSATISFACTORY RECORD based upon a total of 21 complaints filed against RMR within the last 36 months, six of which were closed in 2007
Many of these complaints involve Rocky Mountain Radar's claim that they will pay the fine for a ticket that is received within one year of the product purchase.

Rocky Mountain Radar critiques "test videos"
February 18, 2010
Rocky Mountain Radar breaks down the "independent tests" videos to show how they are bogus:
Rocky Mountain Radar at Sema 2008
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZqXyRjH2kM
1) Why are they hiding the camera? Because it is 100% illegal to video tape without SEMA and RMR permission.
Regarding going to the parking lot to do a test. Please contact or read the SEMA Show rules.
The following is copied directly from the SEMA rules booklet:
Regarding going to the parking lot to do a test. Please contact or read the SEMA Show rules: 3. PHOTOGRAPHY - Do not take photos or video of other exhibitor booths under any conditions unless given explicit permission by the exhibitor. (See rule #10.N.) N. Photography/Video/Recording. No exhibit, performance or event presented at the Show shall be photographed, videotaped, broadcast or recorded for commercial use, sale or distribution of any kind without the express written consent of Show Management. If found in violation of this section, Exhibitor agrees to surrender recording media immediately at the request of Show Management and is subject to a loss of seniority. No entity may use any audio or visual devices, including film, videotape, DVD, webcam, or any other similar methods which may be available to capture audio or visual images of the Show or its events without written permission of SEMA. Video material of the event is available from SEMA and may be provided to legitimate news organizations. Video material for commercial use may be provided at prevailing rates. SEMA is responsible for the approval of all requests for access to obtain audio or visual materials, including film, video and streaming video from all SEMA events. Every audio or visual device, including but not limited to, videotape, film camera, digital video cameras and webcams at the Show must display the proper credentials issued by SEMA. No entity may supply, sell or resell any audio or visual material of any SEMA Show without the express written consent of SEMA. No entity, with the exception of official SEMA licensees, may represent that it is the official, authorized, or sote provider of Show content or coverage. Furthermore, Exhibitor hereby waives its right of refusal to have its personnel, as well product or exhibit, to be photographed, video taped, broadcast or recorded in any medium for any use whatsoever by Show Management or its designated official and authorized agency, including without limitation, uses by Show.authorized or sanctioned media producing broadcasts derived from material gathered at the Show. 0. Can I take pictures of other exhibitors’ booths or products?
A. Exhibitor personnel and representatives may not enter the exhibit space of another exhibitor without permission from that exhibitor and at no time may anyone enter an exhibit space, which is not staffed. Exhibitors are not permitted to photograph or video the exhibit or product of another exhibitor without prior approval. Please review all information on the Intellectual Property Right form for further information.
2) Yes, SEMA has been given this video and information.
3) Can one trust anything an alleged former police officer says when he breaks the rules, uses false credentials to enter a show and flagrantly disregards the truth?
Rocky Mountain Radar Investigation by IPN Network
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uRjS1qrWU0
1) At the very beginning the video shows the PhazerII mounted on the window but the power light is not on.
2) The officer is reading the speed from his radar gun and shows the PhazerII but again power light is not on. Even when you zoom in, no power light.
3) When they show our display from the SEMA show you can clearly see the green power light is very bright.
4) They run another test with a police car with the PhazerII in the car and still no power light.
5) When the officer holds the Phazer II in front of the radar gun in the car the radar is showing many different readings. When you see the live demo from the SEMA show it shows a blank screen which is the scrambling effect.
6) Outside of the police car it does show the power cord but does not show if the unit is on. When they are by the driver’s side door and shooting the Phazer II with the K15 radar gun they are shooting the back of the Phazer II not the front. Look at the orientation of the power cord to determine the front and rear of the Phazer II.
7) The lady doing the piece on the PhazerII states that “ the FCC declared any device that prevents the police radar from determining a cars speed is illegal the agency has warned RMR to stop selling the products and that is as far as it went”. Actually the the FCC never made such a statement as that is not in the FCC’s code. The FCC does try to control “any device that generates an RF signal”.
8) If the FCC rules said anything that interferes with radar is illegal, and the PHZ-II allegedly does not work, why would the FCC ban it? Even if one went along with this interpretation, the FCC has tested the C450 and the Phazer II and declared that they both work. (See: www.FCC.gov)
9) Regarding the ticket rebate she said read the fine print states “you shouldn’t get a ticket if you use the PhazerII properly so if you get a ticket is is your fault.” Our manual has never said that anywhere and it never will. If you’re going to quote a manual at least quote what it really says!
10) The tests being conducted are run inside the punch through zone.
Rocky Mountain Radar Investigation by KYTV News
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-ZmcvEMcSI
1) At the beginning the off ice said, “ I do not know for how many years speed kills.” We do not condone reckless speed. The unit is not a license to speed.
2) They purchase a C430 to run a test but the startup procedure is never shown so there is no way to know the scrambler was activated.
3) As soon as the detector goes off, the driver does not reduce his speed; the C430 is detecting the radar long before the officer can even see the car. In this situation our manual instructs the driver to check or reduces his speed.
4) When the vehicle approached 50 to 100 feet the officer started reading his speed. So did it scramble? Of course just as it states in our manual “50 to 200 feet the office may get a reading on you.”
5) The video shows ‘Radar Roy’ in El Paso running tests (once again unit apparently is not powered on Amazingly, RMR has never been invited to join these test?
Rocky Mountain Radar mini test of radar and laser scramblers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItWtmZjpcxU
1) When running the 1st test how do we know the Traxx was on or even the scrambler? We do not see the unit just the car.
2) Why try from the rear? It states in the manual it only scrambles forward.
3) Then we see it from the front and there are no lights showing it is on?
4) When he turns around it says laser but still no lights. So do they have another unit plugged in? It sounds just like the C450 not the Traxx.
5) In the owner’s manual it says to mount the unit below the rearview mirror. Not almost on the dash.
6) Now they are running a test with the C450. On the front of the box and in the manual it says “SCRAMBLER DEACTIVATED”. The radar gun being used to do the tests on the C450 is a sports radar not an actual police radar gun. The sport radar guns are the same thing as a roadside trailer sign. It does not have a sampling computer.
7) Then a run against a roadside trailer sign. It has been in the manual from day 1 under “frequently Asked Questions” (1st question) that it may not scramble them. So running a test on the trailer signs is pointless.
8) How can a car be moving in park? This is the problem of not using police equipment to perform alleged testing; no one knows what it may pick up and display.
9) The radar gun being used to do the tests on the C450 is a sports radar not an actual police radar gun. This is not a ‘test’ it is a deliberate falsehood.
Rocky Mountain Radar RMR-C450 Test – K-Band Speed Trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF2HPiPnOkg&feature=PlayList&p=0E4D3F8F8DC35623&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=31
1) At the beginning of the video it says “Rocky Mountain Radar C450 vs. K-Band Speed Trailer”. As stated in our owner’s manual under “Frequently Asked Questions” (it is the very 1st question) the unit may not scramble and explains why this is the case.
2) So why are they running a test against the roadside trailer sign? Why not read the instructions before making such claims? Precisely to support a bogus claim that the product does not work.
3) On this video, that power light is very noticeable. Why not on all the other, no matter if it is day or night. On all videos the power light should be on.
4) RMR has great detection and distance on those roadside trailer signs. The unit picks up way before you even see the sign,

1. As you can see when the unit is on the power light is visible. The test is with roadside trailer signs. Please look at your manual of any unit and it states:
Frequently Asked Questions
The Rocky Mountain Radar scramblers are designed to give you radar and laser scrambling from the front half of the car.
Can I test it with roadside trailer radars?
The trailers you see on the side of the road that show your speed are not legal to use to write tickets. They do not contain the sophisticated sampling computers that are in police radar guns. Since our units confuse the computer and there is none, they may not work reliably against the trailers.
2. This has been in our manual since day one.
3. Note: that the detector is detecting well before it even shows a speed.
4. His vehicle speed is never shown (speedometer), so how does anyone know if the trailer sign is accurate?

1) If you notice even on this video during the day you still can see the power light.

So I wonder who does not follow rules? And he said he is an ex police officer.
2) Then he asks us to leave our booth and offers us $5,000.00 to prove it works. Because we chose not to break the rules and leave our booth he claims we turned down his offer.
3) He claims our engineer said “Our product will not work in a parking lot.” So why will he not show our engineer saying that? After breaking rules and making his own, why would anyone believe him? Is he honest?
4) Why would someone get a buyers guide from an alleged former police officer that breaks rules and does not tell the truth?
Rocky Mountain Radar CES 2010 the only radar detector company showing!
January 7, 2010
Rocky Mountain Radar was the only radar detector company with a booth. All the competitors did not have a booth to showcase products.
FCC Challenges Rocky Mountain Radar
January 31, 2008
FCC RATIFIES PERFORMANCE OF ROCKY MOUNTAIN RADAR JAMMERS
On January 31st the FCC issued Citations to several of Rocky Mountain Radar’s internet dealers and a Notice of Apparent Liability to Rocky Mountain Radar. All of the Citations and the NAL were consistent with this quote from section II, para. 4:
“4. Subsequently, the Commission’s Office of Engineering and Technology (“OET”) Laboratory obtained samples…directly from RMR for testing. Testing of the samples indicated…., and are indeed capable of interfering with police radar.”
There is no equivocating or conditional statements: the FCC tested the C450 and the Phazer II and they did interfere with police radar!
This investigation was launched when Radar Roy and his associate Carl Fors of Speed Measurement Labs, sent in a barrage of ‘informal’ complaints to the FCC supplying them with names and addresses of Rocky Mountain Radar dealers and distributors. Even when we pointed out to the FCC that they were being used, they continued the alleged investigation with full knowledge and willful intent to provide our competitors competitive advantage.
RMR was forced to file suit against the FCC to limit the FCC's harassment of our dealers/distributors.
